Dr. Alex Gungab is mentored during his Ophthalmology residency by Dr. Reynaldo Javate from the Philippines. Dr. Gungab completed his Orbit, Oculofacial and Lacrimal Surgery Fellowship in the National University Hospital in Singapore under the guidance of Dr. Gangadhara Sundar.

Dr. Gungab is an avid Ophthalmic surgical videographer and has garnered multiple awards from various international ophthalmic scientific meetings.

Dr. Anita Chan Sook Yee is a respected ophthalmic pathologist at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and serves as the President of the International Society of Ophthalmic Pathology (ISOP). Her expertise lies in the pathology of orbital and adnexal diseases, including tumors, lacrimal gland conditions, and inflammatory disorders such as IgG4 disease.

As a contributor to the WHO Classification of Tumours of the Eye, Dr. Chan has been instrumental in advancing the understanding and classification of ocular tumors. Her work emphasizes the integration of molecular diagnostics and histopathology to improve outcomes in complex ocular pathology cases such as lymphomas and melanomas.

Dr. Chan’s contributions to research, education, and international collaboration continue to strengthen the role of ophthalmic pathology in enhancing patient care and advancing the field of oculoplastics.

Dr. Ayşe Dolar Bilge  was born in Bursa, Turkey. She graduated from Istanbul Medical Faculty (1998-2004) and completed her ophthalmology residency at Göztepe Training and Research Hospital (2004-2009). In 2009, she completed an observership in oculoplastic surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, followed by a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery under Prof. Dr. Bülent Yazıcı at Uludağ University Medical School in 2013.  

Dr. Bilge is a member of the Turkish Ophthalmology Society and ESOPRS. She currently practices in her private office in Istanbul, specializing in oculoplastic surgery.  

Cameron Nabavi attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego, and completed residency at the Gavin S. Herbert Eye Institute in Irvine, California. He pursued fellowship at the University of Alabama, Birmingham with Drs. John Long and Matthew Vicinanzo. He now practices with Plastic Surgery Ohio in Columbus, Ohio where he is an associate preceptor of an ASOPRS/AUPO fellowship with Dr. Kenneth Cahill.

Catherine Y Liu, MD PhD, is currently an associate professor of ophthalmology in the division of Oculofacial and plastic surgery at UC San Diego, California.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She then earned an M.D. and Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After a transitional year internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of California, Irvine. She then completed her ASOPRS fellowship training with Allen Putterman, Pete Setabutr, and Vinay Aakalu at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.  In addition to her clinical interests, she is an active researcher and has contributed numerous articles and chapters to peer-reviewed journals and textbooks on oculofacial surgery.

Dr. David B. Samimi earned his M.D. degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and then completed his ophthalmology training at the #1 rated residency program in the United States, the University of Miami’s world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Dr. Samimi continued an additional two years of specialized training in oculofacial plastic surgery at Eyesthetica, one of the few prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) sponsored fellowships. He continued training in deep plane facelift surgery with the top facelift surgeons in Los Angeles.

Dr. Samimi is a Clinical Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and currently teaches oculofacial plastic surgery at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. In addition to educating at USC, Dr Samimi is an associate preceptor for the ASOPRS-sponsored fellowship, teaching eyelid and facelift surgery at Eyesthetica.

He regularly lectures at national conferences, publishes in peer-reviewed medical journals, and has authored a book on upper facial plastic surgery. Dr. Samimi is a Southern California native and currently lives in Brentwood, Los Angeles with his wife, son and daughter.

Elin Bohman, MD, PhD, is a senior consultant in oculoplastic surgery with a special focus on lacrimal and orbital surgery, as well as the care of the anophthalmic socket. Since 2014, she has been the Director of Oculoplastic and Orbital Services at S:t Erik Eye Hospital, Stockholm, and is a member of the Stockholm Craniofacial Team. She wrote her thesis on lacrimal drainage diseases and lacrimal surgery. Her current primary research areas include eyelid circulation, the effects of vasoconstriction in oculoplastic surgery, and the ophthalmological sequelae of facial nerve paralysis. She is the current Treasurer of ESOPRS and a member of the ISD-DE Scientific Board, as well as a member of the editorial boards for Orbit and Oftalmolog.

Dr Essam ElToukhy is a full Professor and Head of the Oculoplasty Service at Cairo University Hospitals .He is the president of the Egyptian Society of Oculoplasty and the Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Egyptian Board of Ophthalmology . He was trained in Cleveland and New York. He published 7 books and shared in 11 books and many peer reviewed publications in major journals. He lectured, ran courses and operated in oculoplasty in 30 countries and trained hundreds of trainees over 24 years. Professor Procianoy lives in Porto Alegre, the southernmost capital of Brazil. He has been dedicated to oculoplastic surgery for over 20 years and was a fellow of Prof. Augusto Cruz at USP Ribeirão Preto, where he also completed his doctorate. He is a professor of ophthalmology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and head of the oculoplastic surgery department at Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, where he is also the coordinator of the oculoplastic fellowship. Yoon, MD is Associate Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Service and Director of Ophthalmic Fellowship Programs at Mass Eye and Ear, and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in a variety of topics including soft tissue and skeleton reconstruction of the orbit as well as skull base and advanced facial surgery. Dr. Yoon has co-authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications and co-edited 3 textbooks. Michael T. Yen, MD, specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face.  He attended medical school at the University of Michigan and completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. Dr Milind Naik acquired his post-graduate training in Ophthalmology at the Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, He further completed his Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic surgery fellowship at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles in the year 2006-07. Rachel Kalmann graduated  in Medicine at the University of Utrecht in 1996, qualified in Ophthalmology at the  Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam, where she also specialized in oculoplastic and orbital surgery with Leo Koornneef. In 1996 she started to work at the University Medical Center Utrecht, where she received a  PhD on Graves orbitaopathy in 2001.

She was head of the orbital center at the UMCU from 2002 till 2024. Allen MD PhD FACS is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Allen attended Duke University where he received a BS in Chemistry followed by Baylor College of Medicine where he received his MD and PhD degrees. He completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Iowa under the mentorship of Jeffrey Nerad and Keith Carter.  Dr. Allen is a member of ASOPRS, ESOPRS, and the Orbital Society.  He is a past-president of ASOPRS, Editor-in-Chief for the journal Orbit, and President-elect for IJCAHPO.  Dr. Allen has authored over 130 peer-reviewed publications, was section editor for Oculoplastics and Orbit for Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, is a member of the editorial board for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Ophthalmology and Therapy and is a reviewer for over 30 journals.  He has lectured extensively, nationally and internationally.  His on-line oculoplastic surgery video atlas is recognized worldwide. 

Robert Alan Goldberg MD FACS was born in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Stanford University in 1979 with a major in Psychology, and completed his MD degree at UCLA School of Medicine in 1983. His Residency in Ophthalmology was at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, under Bradley R. Straatsma MD, finishing in 1987. He was a Fellow in Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery under Norman Shorr, MD at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. A rotating second year fellowship in Orbital Oncology included time with Jack Rootman MD, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and with John Wright MD at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, England.

He is holds the Bert Levy Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Under his leadership as Chief of the Orbital and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Division, the Division has developed the careers of multiple faculty members, established Centers of Excellence in Orbital and Aesthetic surgery, and has become recognized nationally and internationally for leadership and innovation in education, research and clinical care.
He is an enthusiastic educator.  At UCLA, he is involved in medical student and resident education and has taken leadership roles in resident education including long service on the Residency Selection Committee.  His ASOPRS fellowship is widely regarded as one of the best in the world; graduates have gone on to leadership positions in academic Ophthalmology both nationally and internationally.  He has been a leader in Continuing Medical Education as well: the UCLA based teaching courses that he directs have helped to educate thousands of national and international physicians who have come to UCLA for advanced cadaver and didactic courses, and he continues to direct teaching courses nationally and internationally including a prominent role at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and ASOPRS meetings.  

Dr. Goldberg has been highly recognized and cited for his creative work in Oculofacial Surgery.  His 250 publications in the field include papers that span the discipline, from surgical technique, clinical studies, anatomic investigations, multicenter clinical trials, and therapeutics.  In particular, his work in Graves disease and in orbital vascular tumors has changed the management of these disorders.  His anatomic studies and surgical technique papers have had wide influence on the practice of the Specialty.  Editorials, book chapters and textbooks have had significant influence as well. His research interests include surgical and medical treatments for Thyroid Related Orbitopathy, small incision approaches to orbital and oculofacial surgery, dacryocystorhinostomy, and orbital imaging.

He is a leader of his discipline nationally and internationally.  His leadership has included Presidency of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the board of the California Association of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and  service on multiple editorial boards of major peer review journals including section editor for Oculoplastics and Orbit for the AAO’s ONE website.  He has given keynote and named lectureships across the globe.  His awards include the Wendel Hughes Lecture, the AAO Lifetime Achievement award, the Lester Jones Anatomy Award, and the Henry Baylis award from the ASOPRS. 

Dr. Rwituja Thomas is a consultant Orbit and Oculoplastic surgeon at Vision Eye Centres in New Delhi. She has received her basic medical training at St. John’s Medical College and DNB and fellowship in Orbit, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal, Ocular Oncology and Oculofacial aesthetics from Narayana Nethralaya in Bangalore. She has several peer-reviewed publications and book-chapters under her name and has presented at multiple conferences – city, state, national and international in the capacity of instructor, invited speaker, presenter and has won many awards for best paper, best video and in team-based events. She is a member of the national and subspecialty societies as well as APSOPRS (Asia pacific society of oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeons). She is also on the editorial board of DOS Times for Delhi ophthalmological society.

Saul is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic and orbital disease at the Sussex Eye Hospital, University Hospitals Sussex. He is an honorary professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Saul leads research in a wide range of areas including orbital imaging, thyroid eye disease and orbital anatomy. He has a particular interest in endoscopic lacrimal and orbital surgery. Dr Stephanie Young, MBBS, MMed, FAMS, FRCOphth
DR STEPHANIE YOUNG is the Director of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Senior Consultant Eye Surgeon at Eagle Eye Centre. She is also the Medical Director of Eagle Aesthetics & Surgery. She is a visiting consultant to the Ophthalmology Department in National University Hospital (NUH) and Honorary Assistant Professor with National University of Singapore (NUS).

Dr Young has a special interest in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, lacrimal system and orbit. She is particularly interested in surgical and non-surgical rejuvenation of the eyes and face. A large portion of her work focuses on eyelid surgery for functional and cosmetic indications, and treats many patients with droopy eyelids, eyelid malpositions, double eye lid creation, lower blepharoplasty and more. She is active in Oculoplastic-related research and has published more than 40 papers on the subject in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. She has also won several awards including: Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award, American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award, Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Best Scientific Paper Awards, and Wong Hock Boon Society Outstanding Mentor Award. Dr Young is active in regional Oculoplastic activities and has served on the Executive Council of Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS) as Treasurer (2018 to 2024) and First Vice Present (2024 till present).

She has obtained Fellowships from The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (London) and Academy of Medicine (Singapore), won the NUS Gold Medal and Book Prize in Ophthalmology, and received Distinction Award for Ophthalmology-related research for her Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. She has completed two Oculoplastic fellowships: National University Hospital, Singapore (mentors: Dr Gangadhar Sundar and Prof Shantha Amrith), Samsung Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea (mentors: Prof Kim Yoon-Duck and Prof Woo Kyung In).

The chief instructor belongs to a tertiary eye care institute with specialized training in orbital disease and oculofacial surgery. An accomplished academic, she has authored more than 67 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.  She lectures widely at the regional, national and international levels on a range of topics related to orbital, facial and socket surgery. Her research interests mirror her clinical focus and relate to orbital diseases particularly: orbital fungal infections, thyroid eye disease, orbital vascular malformations and management of orbital fractures and anophthalmia. She has brought in many innovations to India like the orbital tissue expander for congenital anophthalmia, osseo-integrated exenteration prosthesis and patient specific implants for orbital reconstruction. She also has a specific interest in the management of ptosis, eyelid malpositions and cosmetic oculo-facial surgery.
She is a passionate teacher at all levels training and is a sought-after mentor for fellows training in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery. An astute surgeon, she enjoys an enviable level of trust and endorsement among peers for managing the most complex of orbital and socket reconstructions.

Uli Schaudig trained in general and plastic surgery in Munich before he turned his interest to ophthalmology at the University Hospital in Hamburg Eppendorf.

After his board certification in 1997, he continued to work as a senior registrar at the University, with special interests in both oculoplastic and vitreoretinal surgery and completed his scientific work with a PH.D. thesis on retinal imaging. He served as head of ophthalmic pathology and the oculoplastic service.

In 2007, he became chief of the department of Ophthalmology at the Asklepios Klinik Barmbek.
His department serves as one of four hospital based centres of ophthalmology for the metropolitan area of Hamburg, provides a residency program and teaches undergraduate students for Hamburg University and Semmelweis University (Asklepios Medical School), Budapest.
He continues to  work as a general ophthalmic surgeon, with a special interest in oculoplastic surgery.
He has published numerous articles in german and international peer –referenced journals and is a regular lecturer at international and national congresses.

He organized the 2019 annual Meeting of ESOPRS in Hamburg and co-organized the first online-only annual ESOPRS meeting 2021 during the SARS CoV2 pandemic.

Dr. Vikram David Durairaj graduated from Trinity University with a degree in Biology and a minor in Biophysics. While attending medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center, he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. Dr. Durairaj completed his Internship at Georgetown University and his Residency at the University of Colorado. He completed his 2-year American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Durairaj has performed over 20,000 eyelid, orbit and lacrimal surgeries. He currently serves as Managing Partner of TOC Eye and Face and is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Dell Medical School - University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Durairaj is the Director of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship and Preceptor of the AACS Facial Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship at TOC Eye and Face.

Wendy W. Lee, MD, MS, is Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Dermatology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She serves as Associate Director of the Bascom Palmer Aesthetic Center and Co-Director of the University’s Cosmetic Medicine Group, a multidisciplinary group comprised of the ophthalmology, dermatology, ENT, and plastic surgery departments.

Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a Master of Science degree in physiology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She completed both her residency and internship at Tulane, and a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Dr. Lee conducts research at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with special interests in eyelid reconstruction, aesthetic applications in oculoplastic surgery and orbital disease. She also lectures around the world on oculoplastic disorders and aesthetic treatments related to the eye. She’s been published extensively, both in peer-reviewed journals and in teaching textbooks. She also serves as a section editor for Ocular Surgery News and is on the scientific advisory and planning committees for several national and international meetings.

She completed internship and ophthalmology residency program at the affiliated hospitals of the Catholic University of Korea. She had fellowship in oculoplastics at the Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital for 2 years under the supervision of Prof. Suk-Woo Yang.

She had additional research experience in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at University of California San Diego, Shiley Eye Institute, CA, USA under the supervision of Dr Don Kikkawa.

Currently she is an Associated Professor in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Uijeongbu St. Mary’s Hospital, one of the affiliated hospitals of the Catholic University of Korea, Seoul, Republic of Korea and one of council members of APSOPRS.

She is an international member of ASOPRS and an active member of the KSOPRS (Korean Society of Ophthalmic Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery).
